We’re in a series entitled “Supernatural” which we got the idea from LifeChurch.tv. This Sunday’s message was entitled “God’s Work Behind the Scenes.” Scripture text was Romans 8:26-30. Key verse was verse 28:
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Pre-service: Had iTunes pre-service mix of upbeat songs playing with Welcome and Announcement slides playing on the left and right screens and a big Welcome graphic on the center screen. The center screen also plays an animated graphic of a cell phone that reminds people to turn their phones off. Countdown starts at 5 minutes until the service begins (9:30 and 11am).
Song One: Furious (C) – Jeremy Riddle/Bethel LiveSong Two: Forever Reign (C) – HillsongWelcome/Brief Announcements: Me (Greg Atkinson) – At the end of my welcome and announcements I mentioned the tragedy in Colorado and led in prayer for the victims and family of victims. This prayer led into our next song.Song Three: Always (B) – Kristian StanfillMessage: Video message by our Lead PastorResponse: I came back up and wrapped up the message and led people in a time of prayer. I encouraged our people to sing the next song as a prayer and to ask God to give them faith.Song Four: Give Me Faith (A) – Elevation WorshipSong Five: Your Love Never Fails (Bb) – Jesus CultureClosing: I came back up and closed out the service. I mentioned that people could text in their response to our special text response cell phone. People can text their name and if they made a decision, want to be baptized or want information on membership. I then end each and every service by having us all pray and recite Ephesians 3:20-21.
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
***NOTES:
- Always was a nice song to follow our prayer for the people of Colorado (“My refuge and strength. Always.”)
- Give Me Faith was a perfect response to the message. We wanted people to sing this song as a prayer. If you’re not keeping an eye on Elevation Worship – put them on your radar.
- Your Love Never Fails we chose as the closer because the Bridge of the song sings, “You make all things work together for our good.” (our key verse of the day)
